Reigning Hip Chick’s of Ayurveda, Jill Leslie and Katie Silcox are excited to launch their blog, a preview of their up-and-coming book on Ayurveda, Yoga and Tantra!
We believe that regular gals, all over the world, can change the planet by taking better care of their bodies and minds. How is that possible? Well, read this blog (soon to be book!).
This blog is for regular girls and women who want to learn Ayurveda, Tantra and deeper Yogic Philosophy. Each of these modalities urge us to align with the tides of nature. Many of the hip-chicks reading this blog live in bustling cities, in packed apartments, in speeding cars. We move along busy highways drinking super-charged double espresso machiatto lattees. We communicate in real-time on the information super-highway, texting instant messages to distant loved-ones across the lines of zeros and ones of our new, instantly-gratifying, collective web. It stands to reason that amidst the speed and information overload of living in the modern world, we struggle with creating balance in our mental, emotional and physical bodies. We are a privileged culture of material excesses, and yet these excesses have lead to obesity, clutter in our homes, clutter in our minds, and a variety of unnecessary chronic conditions.
We are a culture of feel-good-now, and yet if you walk down any city street with your eyes open, you get the funny feeling that something really important, something really magical, is missing in people’s lives. Something is inherently “off” in the way we have aligned our lives and in our connection to spirit. And that “off-ness” is creating a society of not only disease, but dis-ease.
Ayurveda teaches us how to come back into balance with our true nature, which is, get this….outrageous joy, or at the very least a deep knowing that life has meaning and purpose. So to all of you urban and suburban wild women, there is hope for us. The beauty of Ayurveda is that it was as pertinent to ancient Indian beauties (who had plenty of time to lather their nipples in frankenscenced oils and chew on fenugreek seeds to sweeten their breath for lovers) as it is to the modern-day chick (who knows she is doing really good if she can just manage to shave her legs for her lover). We want to make it clear that Ayurveda is about cultivating an ability to empower yourself to lead a healthy, balanced life, without sacrificing your occasional rendezvous with sangria, a shopping spree or those cheezy re-runs of I-Love-Lucy.
It is our hope that gals and chicks all over the world will use the blog, and eventually our book, as a guide for juicer living and lives of purpose.
See what happens when you suck the sap out of this blog. We dare you….
